1160 McClellan
A spatial journey from street through landscape and threshold into a luminous interior. Shahram Shokoufandeh was the architect, builder and one of the investors.

Architecture understood in motion
Completed in 2010, 1160 McClellan is not presented as a collection of isolated rooms. It unfolds as a carefully directed sequence: street, approach, garden entry, compressed court and threshold.
Like the spatial journeys of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and Tadao Ando, movement prepares the moment of arrival. The intimate entry sequence gives way to the full height, light and landscape of the central living space.
