31801 Pacific Coast Highway

An inherited traditional scheme reconsidered as an open contemporary residence connected to the coast.

31801 PCH transformed contemporary residence

From inherited form to a new relationship with the coast

The project began with an approved traditional Mediterranean scheme: pitched roofs, arches and a highly divided interior.

Group‑S reinterpreted the residence as a sequence of horizontal planes. The design reduces visual weight, opens living spaces toward the ocean and integrates water, terraces and planted roofs with the hillside.
