Planted roofscape
Green roofs continue the hillside across the architecture and reduce its presence from above.
Residence · Coastal + Hillside · Malibu
A coastal residence embedded into its hillside, where planted roofs, concrete walls, warm wood and water organize a gradual descent toward the Pacific.

Architecture drawn into the topography
The residence is composed as a series of low horizontal wings that follow the contours of the site. From the uphill arrival, the building reads as retaining walls, planted roofs and carefully framed openings rather than a single object.
Moving through the house, the architecture becomes increasingly open. Courtyards, bridges and terraces connect the concrete and wood volumes, while a long pool projects from the hillside and extends the living spaces toward the ocean horizon.

A textured water wall, bridges and courts make the entry a sequence of discovery.
The pool and principal living terrace extend outward to frame the Pacific view.

The house does not sit on the hillside; it becomes a sequence within it—arriving from the land and opening toward the sea.
